Al Chaudhury travelled back in time to save his father’s life.
And it worked – Al’s dad is alive again and life is back to the way it should be. At least that’s what Al thinks.
But when an accident robs Al’s beloved Grandpa Byron of his world-beating memory, Al is forced back in time again – and this time, someone gets left behind, trapped in a prehistoric dimension.
Now Al is forced into a rescue mission to recover his friend from the past – and to make sure there will be a future waiting for them all. It turns out time travel is far more complicated that Al thought…
This funny, heart-warming and extraordinary new adventure from Ross Welford, bestselling author of Time Travelling With A Hamster.
They’re back! Al, Carly, Grandpa Byron and – of course – Alan Shearer the hamster: the main cast of Time Travelling With A Hamster are together again for another spacetime-bending adventure!
It took me a while to do it. Seven years is a long wait for a sequel, but I hope the wait was worth it.
This book really came about through “popular demand”, in two ways. First, of course, were the readers asking me if there was going to be another book. I had always said ‘probably not’, mainly because I could not think of one! But then I had an idea – that was the second thing that was influenced by readers.
When I visit schools, I often ask children where they would like to visit if they had a time machine. The answer that comes up more than any is, “back to the dinosaur age.”
And so I began to unpack the little hidden clues I had left in Hamster just in case I wanted to write a sequel. The mysterious text message from Carly on the last page; the existence of the computer programme on a USB stick that had not been destroyed…
This time, Al’s time machine needed to be bigger so I went with a tuk-tuk – those motorised rickshaws that are seen all over Asia.
As for the tortoise – why did I choose a tortoise? Well, tortoises are closely related to dinosaurs so it would make sense for one to find its way back here in the tuk-tuk. (Also it begins with T, and the alliteration in the title sounded good!)
